World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King

May 20th, 2009

Company men write so many video game reviews without consideration of the people that actually play the game. This review is going to be different, being written by a player of the game that has been enjoying the game for literally years.

How does a game attract millions of gamers and still keep them interested in the game after years of play? Well there are many reasons for the outstanding success of World of Warcraft. One of these reasons is the add on programs to extend the capabilities of the players. The game pieces, aka toons or characters, are how the game is played. You make a character in one of many classes and races and then decide to play a game in a world that is vast and most interesting to explore.

With the addition of the Wrath of the Lich King, there are now four continents of territory to explore. You start off at level 1 and proceed through many quests and by killing literally thousands of monsters to level 80. During your progression, you will get a chance to play with other players in groups of up to 5 or Raid groups of 40. The bigger groups, while harder to organize are something that are very enjoyable. There are dungeons, called instances where even more difficult content is found. There are also Battlegrounds where you get a chance to fight the opposite team, Alliance Vs the Horde is how that goes. Which team will you join it is up to you.

There are so many facets of the game that a review of thousands of words could be written about it, and still that would not cover all the components of the game. One thing is certain; if you are a player of World of Warcraft you are going to want the Wrath of the Lich King update. There is even a new hero class with this update called the Death Knight. So why wouldn’t you want all that extra content?

It is true that Massively Multi-player games like World of Warcraft are not for everyone, but there is so much to it, that you should at least give it a try. Blizzard offers a 10-day trial for people considering the game. If you are on the fence you might want to try that, but if you listen to this writer/gamer you won’t need the 10-day trial just get the game and join me in years of computer gaming fun.
